Steve, thanks so much for keeping Tribe alive for us.
I was such a groupie and they are still in my Top Rated
Ipod Playlist!!! I was realy hopong to google up and
find that the Band released something I didn't know
about or had been reunited while I wasn't looking....alas,
neither have happened BUT your site brought me back
to where I was tring to be. Channel shows, oversized
T-shirts and Big-Black Hair! Those were the days and
Tribe is still "The" band for me! Thanks!

I haven't heard Tribe for 15 years! I used to hear them
all the time on WFNX. I had no idea they weren't nationally
known. They were so good; they certainly deserved wider

Upon unlocking Outside on Rockband I was floored. To
hear that song off of Abort brought back great memories
of the Boston music scene back in the 80's and 90's.
Tribe and Janet are missed please get back together
for a U.S. tour and don't forget Vegas, Though I would
travel back to Boston to see them.

still listen to it & have it on my MP3 player now.
It's the only album I ever owned that I actually like
all of the songs on the album.

Thanks for the great Tribe site; the band has been a
favorite of mine for quite some time. Extra thanks for
the Tribe mp3s which I didn't know existed... I'm off
to give them a listen now!

You have no idea the chill that went down my spine while
playing rock band I saw "Outside" by "Tribe"
unlocked, I still listened to your cds at a regular
rate and I love it when people think it's new and visionary
just to find out it's 15 years old!

I stumbled across this page tonight and was completely
amazed. Thank you so much for setting up this site!
I miss this band so much. I remember seeing them in
clubs in Boston, and outdoors at a park in Providence.
I still listen to them. Your site brings back so many
great memories. Thanks again!

I ran into Terri and Eric last night at a function at
the Hard Rock in Boston...haven't seen them since the
last show in May 94! They were great to talk to and
it brought back all sorts of great memmories of an amazing
band. I've always felt there music was ahead of its
time and their live shows were just incredible! I still
listen to them on a regular basis. Seeing them last
night is what made me find this sight today and its
great to see that there are people out there that realize
that this band was magic!

Thanks for the website!!!

Great Site! My friend who lives in the Boston area turned
me on to Tribe in the late 80s. At the time we exchanged
tapes of new songs and artists and he put on a couple
of tracks from what I now know was Here At the Home
on a tape from about '88. I eventually bought Abort
and Sleeper - but in some cases I still like the older
versions on Here At the Home. The unreleased tracks
are great. Hopefully someday Janet's solo project is
also released! It is sad that they never made it bigger
- and hard to believe. They really had the goods. Thanks
much for all the pictures, downloads and video. I never
got to see them live but now I know what I was missing.
Hey Ed, did you ever see them in person? Here's to hoping
the get together again, even briefly to make great music

Awesome site! I used to work the door at a club called
Grovers in Beverly, MA. I remember seeing tribe many
times, they are one of my favorite bands of all time.
It was great to see the crowds get bigger and bigger.
One night, we had to stop letting people in because
we were at capacity. A big crowd built up outside the
door. When the band came out from the dressing room
and saw the packed house, they all just stared in amazement
for a few minutes. They rarely played there after that
night-they had gotten too big for our club!

I was 21 years old in 1991, when _Abort_ came out. I
used to listen to it all the time, though I have to
be honest: I sort of forgot about it after a while.
New musical interests, kids, job, etc., etc. Anyway,
I came across it at a friend's house out here in Illinois
(and he's from Nebraska, never having travelled to Massacusetts),
and I remembered what it was like to see Tribe at the
Blue Room at UMass. It was a good moment. Thanks for
the music, Tribe. I'm listening to "Outside"
repeatedly this afternoon.

Thank you for making the brilliant music from Tribe
available through this site! I owned Here At The Home
until it was stolen from my car in '96. Having moved

the raw sound on this recording over Abort (which is
still great). Saw Tribe at WBCN's Battle of the Bands
in 88 or 89 and have been a big fan ever since.

I have over 30 ticket stubs from Tribe shows. This band
was, in their day, the hands-down best band in Boston.
My friends and I never missed a show. We got to meet
them many times and they were the nicest folks ever.
Terri always had my heart! My favorite thing was when
they covered "Down In The Park" by Gary Numan.
I would pay huge money to get that on an mp3. If Tribe
ever plays again, please let me know so I can fly in
from Tampa to see them!

MTV 120 Minutes. . .endless frustration that they never
hit big. Thanks so much for this site, the mp3s and

I'm so glad I found this site! Been longing for the
real, raw, unique sound of Tribe ever since they broke
up. I saw them in NYC with Toad the Wet Sprocket (I
think it was Halloween) at the old Kat Club. I met them
backstage and they all signed my Abort CD insert. Then
a random show at the Limelight when Sleeper came out.
I also caught them at the Channel up in Boston the night
my buddies opened up for them (the REAL Savage Garden!).
I still have a crush on Terri! At least she married
Eric. There's rumors of a 2007 reunion in local Boston
area>>>per this site>>> http://www.davepye.com

Hello, I just found this page and was very excited as
I loved Tribe back in the day and still hold a special
place for them in my heart. I saw a ton of their shows
including the last show with James at the Orpheum. I
even saw Janet LaValley play solo at the Paradise some
months later. I think they recorded that show for WBCN
as well. It would be great to find a copy of that too.
I am excited to see more of this site in the future.
I think I am gonna go break out Sleeper and rock out
to Crawl! Thanks to Tribe for the all too brief, but
great catalog. Cheers, Esteeb

Great to see the flame is still burning for Tribe. IMHO,
one of best bands to ever come out of Boston. Saw them
late 1988/early 1989 and saw them at very possible opportunity
until their last show at the Orpheum when they opened
up for James. Glad to see fans are still interested
in talking about the band.

What a treat to hear new material after 12 years! I
followed Tribe from late '90 'til the end. I first saw
them at Paradise Rock Club in August or Sept. '90 on
a freebie ticket from WBCN. I believe they opened with
a song called "Goodbye Harry"....which I would
love to find in any form! Other pleasant memories were
covers of "Are Friends Electric?" "Blue
Spark" "Baby, it's you" "Goldfinger"....oh
yeah, and when they mixed in some Pixies riffs with
Abort (I think) live at BU or BC......little bits of
Monkey Gone to Heaven and No.13 Baby. TRIBE WAS/IS PART
OF THE BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE....AND I WILL NEVER FORGET
THOSE GUYS! THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED
AND MADE POSSIBLE THE GOODIES AVAILABLE ON THIS SITE.

The only reason I walked into the long gone Scrapyard
in Buffalo, NY on Saturday April 18, 1992 was because
it's owner, Dror Khon (sp?) owed me money for a recent
gig. After suffering through some lame-o local punk
act the relatively unknown Tribe mounted the stage.
There I stood, front row dead center, for the show,
my gaze almost entirely transfixed on Miss Janet LaValley.
I purchased Abort the very next day and listened to
it for a week straight. I joined the fan club, have
an autographed 8 X 10 (in a scrapbook somewhere) as
well as "my lucky" Tribe T-shirt, which I
was wearing when I took an ID photo for my Citibank
Visa credit card and have never allowed them to change
since even though I am 12 years older and now have short
hair. I remember eagerly awaiting the release of Sleeper
and initially was sorely disappointed and though time
has given it some appeal, it's no Abort. I prayed that
Tribe would return to Buffalo...they never did. Then
I received the fan club lett
